Tourism Day

Image
Everyone woke up this morning excited for all the adventures we had planned for the day. We fueled up with a delicious breakfast then Karlee led our morning devotion. She discussed how God has led and provided for us throughout this trip.  Once devotion was over, we all loaded up the van to drive 2 hours to a neighboring city. Our first stop was a small hike up to a huge cross that overlooked the city. Everyone was able to take some awesome pictures. After visiting the cross, we took a short ride to a couple of museums. We first got a tour of a music museum and learned about the spiritual significance music had in the Mayan religion. Next, we toured a coffee plantation where we got to learn the process of growing, fermenting, and roasting coffee beans. After that, we were able to try some of the coffee and locally made chocolate. After our tours, we took a break for lunch at a nice restaurant. Lunch was delicious and once it was over we were ready for our next adventure. We went to...

Our Final Clinic Day

Everyone woke up ready for our last clinic day. We ate a delicious breakfast and Jack lead our morning devotion. He discussed how our actions for God live on beyond our time on earth. Shortly after devotion, we all gathered for our final pre clinic prayer and set up each station. Clinic was very busy like it had been the past two days. Everyone had lots of experience with each station so we were able to help at testing and dispensing stations when they got backed up. It has been amazing watching everyone get more comfortable and have the willingness to help where it is needed. At one point, there was a woman who came through that we served and we were able to get her a much needed pair of glasses that enabled her to finally see faces. By lunch we served around 100 people. After lunch, everyone was ready to finish strong and serve the last few people to come through the clinic. As we neared the end, everyone started to clean up their stations as the last people came through. We got to t...

Clinic Day Four

When we woke up the whole lake was foggy because of the storm yesterday. We could barely see the mountains. We had a delicious breakfast and Addie lead our morning devotion. She discussed rejoicing in God’s goodness. As we ended breakfast and started clinic, there was already a line out of the door. The first people we served today was the news people who came to make a story about us! Because we knew the news was coming, we all wore our matching shirts and even brought shirts for our translators. As we neared lunchtime we had served around 100 people! After lunch we decided to take a group picture with all our matching shirts. Then we were back to work. Everyone was working so hard to make sure everyone got the care they needed. By the end of the day our total had came out to around 150 people served again. Shortly after clinic, we all hopped in the car to go grab ice cream. We went to a local place where everyone was able to pick a flavor of their choice. Once we got back from ice cr...
