Our First Clinic Day
After a well deserved night of rest we were up and ready to start the day. We all ate breakfast together and did our morning devotion. Paster Tyler’s devotion had us discuss how our cup should be facing upwards to overflow with Gods love. He reminded us that our focus on this mission is to fill ourselves with God’s love and presence so that others can see Him through us. As we ended our devotion, we realized that Dr. Elry was already checking people into our clinic! So, we all quickly got prepared to begin. Everyone went over their duties within their station and began helping people as they came through the clinic. Many men, women and children were able to get tested and find glasses to help them see! Everyone who came through the clinic was also able to pick out a pair of sunglasses. We were able to help over 80 people. We wrapped up the clinic around 3 since the space we are set up in is also the sanctuary. So we took everything down and set up chairs for church at 4. Church was all in Spanish. Barbara went up in front of the congregation to talk about our clinic and told everyone to bring family and friends for us to serve. After church, we saw some kids that visited our clinic and had their glasses on! They recognized us and came over to give us hugs. It was awesome to see our hard work paying off. Outside, some kids came out to play soccer with Pastor Tyler and Sophie. Everyone had the chance to spend some quality time together before dinner. After dinner Dr. Elry’s son, Sammy, was able to translate for Dr. Elry thanking us for coming to serve his community. Sammy then gave us a bit of history on the church and answered some questions we had about the area. To end off the day Beth did our nightly devotion discussing how the unity of a church is so important and we and connected through God. Everyone is in high spirits and ready for clinic tomorrow.
I'm following your trip and praying for your team this week in Guatemala. Barbara lead my team in April 2024. You all are in good hands with her and God leading. Blessings to all as you complete your week.
